Tom Doerr began building guitars in 2001. Tom spent many hours learning from Bill Wise (Charis Acoustics) in his early days of luthiery. Tom's love is to spend time with the player to analyze what tone woods and body configuration will work best for that style of play. His guitars are truly works of art and sound as though they are meant for each discrimating player. Tom’s guitars produce a deep, rich bass that is tonally balanced with vibrant, sparkling trebles.

His Legacy Select resembles a small jumbo, but has been crafted with Tom’s own intuitive touches. The Solace is more of a jumbo hybrid. The body size is that of a jumbo offering the full body sound yet the face surface size is smaller to produce the clarity of a concert size guitar. Tom has designed a bevel system that runs arouns the entire lower bout - not just where the arm would rest. This allows the face to remain smaller being driven by the larger body volume. Magical.

Tom's guitars are in high demand and are difficult to find. Currently we do not have any Doerr guitars on-hand. We may have a sample or two along the way so keep checking in. You may also contact us or Tom Doerr to discuss specific details about a guitar you would like for him to build.

You will find very few preowned guitars from Tom Doerr. His guitars typically find proud owners who will not give them up. This Legacy Select has a Madagascar Rosewood back and sides and Sinker Redwood top. Tom Doerr creates a beautiful fingerstyle voice in his instruments and this one has clear and articulate trebles and round, warm basses. The tonewoods here are top notch examples and are evident in the wondrous sound of this guitar. Playability is as perfect as the fit and finish. Tom has added touches of artistic elegance throughout the guitar.
